BIO

Amarah Freemantle grew up in Perth, Western Australia. She moved to Albany  on the South coast about ten years ago. Amarah lives there with her husband and two sons, Flynn and Lachlan.

Reading has always been an important part of Amarah's life, and books that relate to life events or experiences are the types of stories that interest her most. Amarah first began to experiment with writing in her middle twenties. This experimentation opened up a wealth of ideas and storylines. Amarah loves to take these ideas, mould them into a strong storyline, and hopefully, produce a good read.

Following the birth of her first son, children's books became a big part of their lives. This encouraged a completley different avenue for Amarah. It sent her into a world of childhood imagination and fun. This was when she created Miss Lilly the oak tree fairy

Amarah loves to spend her spare time in her garden/vegetable garden and both of her boys have  inherited her "green thumb." This is where the inspiration came from for Helping in the garden. Amarah says that it is an amazing feeling to be able to sit down with her boys and read the books she has written, "They are my most honest critics."

Two of these books are self-published through CreateSpace and Amarah's latest story is self-published under her own publishing company, Lynnlan Creations.

Amarah has been a member of a book club for nearly a year now and this has encouraged her to read books she wouldn’t normally choose. She also feels that it has expanded her knowledge of writing styles and genres and the way in which people relate to stories.

Amarah's father, Harry Freemantle does the illustrations for her books. She will write the story first and then he works on the art.

The first two books were illustrated in water colours, whilst the third was oil on canvas. Click the link below to view other pieces of art by Harry Freemantle.
