BIO

Amarah grew up in Perth, Western Australia, and moved to Albany on the South Coast about 20 years ago. Amarah now lives with her partner and two sons. Reading has always been a significant part of Amarah's life, and she is drawn to stories that reflect real-life experiences and events. Amarah first began exploring writing in her mid-twenties, and that experimentation unlocked a wealth of ideas and storylines. Amarah enjoys shaping these ideas into strong narratives, hoping to craft stories that resonate with readers.

After the birth of Amarah first son, children's books became a central part of their lives, leading Amarah down a completely new creative path. It was in this world of childhood imagination that she created Miss Lilly The Oak Tree Fairy—a project inspired by the fun and wonder Amarah shared with her children.

In her spare time, Amarah love spending hours in her garden, a place that inspired Helping in the Garden. It’s incredibly fulfilling to sit down with her boys and read the books she's written. They are her most honest critics, always offering feedback that keeps her grounded.

Two of Amarah books have been self-published through CreateSpace, and the others are published under Amarah's own company, Lynnlan Creations. Amarah been a member of a book club for over nine years, which has encouraged her to read books she wouldn’t typically choose. This experience has expanded her understanding of various writing styles, genres, and how different stories resonate with people.

Amarah's father, Harry Freemantle does the illustrations for her books. She will write the story first and then he works on the art.

The first two books were illustrated in water colours, whilst the third was oil on canvas. Click the link below to view other pieces of art by Harry Freemantle.
